Dr. Ashka Patel grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated from Miami University of Ohio with a Bachelor of Arts. She then attended Cleveland State University to complete her Masters in Business Administration. Throughout her time in Ohio, she participated in many community events hosting health fairs and wellness presentations. Her experience as an optometric assistant through these years reassured her that eye care was where she saw her future!
Dr. Patel went on to earn her Doctorate of Optometry degree at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University. During her graduate studies she was on the board and a member of numerous organizations such as Student Optometric Service to Humanity (SOSH), American Optometric Student Association (AOSA), and Lion's Club. She had many humbling experiences with these groups as they helped her connect and work with a variety of communities on and off campus. She received the opportunity to organize and take part in a service trip to Nicaragua with SOSH where the group provided eye care to 4,000 patients in four days! Dr. Patel also had the honor of being selected into and on the board for the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society PCO Chapter.
Her strong interest in cornea, cataracts, glaucoma and contact lenses led her to successfully complete the Advanced Studies in Anterior Segment course while at PCO. She was the recipient of two contact lens awards: Alcon's 2023 Student Scholarship Award based on a case report from her externships and CooperVision's Excellence in Contact Lens Award based on her aptitude of clinical skills. She completed her 4th year rotations at a number of practices including the Charlotte Veterans Health Center in North Carolina and The Will's Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.
Dr. Patel has always been one to help and care for others. She is thrilled to be joining the Omni family and serving the community of Atlanta!
